C and C++

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/C and C++

Actually, C# you're better off developing in than C++. C++ is good & yes industry Standard, but C# is slowly making it's way up, Most projects are now being designed to be developed in C# now. Blizzard by next year will soon be using C# for their tools. Other companies, such as BigFishGames are using C# for tools.

Well, since people see that the industry is really only using C# for tools then people think that C# is only good for C#. I am currently in a project as a C# programmer, working on the engine completely just with C#, we're also using XNA. We might just change it to DirectX 10 though. Well, we have the Map Editor on a demo as of right now & it's made with just C#/XNA. C# actually gives more speed than our C++ projects. Also, we got this Map Editor done faster than we did when done in C++.

I always highly recommend C# over C++ unless you want a job in the industry as a game programmer & not a tools programmer. I know C++, Visual Basic 6, BlitzMax, BlitzPlus & still a beginner in C#. I plan on making my own 2D Isometric Open-Source Game Engine in C#. Make it for RTS games. Although, I do need more experience with C# before I go & do that.

Here's the proof!

Now, there's no proof that it's has easy and/or easier than VB6, it'smore of my opinion of my experience.

Also, the project I am talking about is Arkland Online. Google it!

Arkland Online is a C#/XNA based 2D MMORPG, in an urban/modern setting. Arkland uses C# for the base engine, but all in game coding will be done using our man-made coding language, #arkscript.

Although sprites/buildings and such are going to be 2D, the terrain engine we are creating will transform 2D tiles to have somewhat of a 3D aspect, so we can have hills and such. #arkscript.
