On a normal tv, you won't notice any lagging or choppiness, and that's a show running at 24fps on a 50 Hz/"fps" screen.
But a normal TV has a ridiculous low resolution compared to even the worst computer monitor you can dig out, so artefacts are not going to be as noticeable. Could you notice a 40fps game?
