Another anecdote containing a wise lesson:
Once I was making soup, but it tasted like nothing, so I added some more salt, still crap, then I added more soupstuff, more whatever, in the end, it was whole can o' crap and still it tasted like nothing. Then I threw the whole soupshebang into the loo and started all over again, which finally resulted in good soup (tm).
The bottom line: even with code-reuse 'n such, it still could do miracles to ditch the whole thing and restart from scratch.
