FPS: Try using CodeBox, look it up on the forum codes section of the FAQ.
Beaker and John J.: Yeah basically I used to make business software in Delphi and SQL and often did bespoke work for clients. Because I knew the technology I was able to talk to the clients, pin down their requirements and come up with a firm design doc. The doc used to take a long time, maybe 25% or more of the whole project (but I was able to charge a fixed fee after the doc was made). Then it was just a matter of "typing" to get the code made and then testing and delivery/training of course.
For my current game (and other games) the design has changed as we've gone along due to new ideas and original ideas that didn't work etc. Also I've had to create lots of new Types and also had to interact with my framework in ways that I had not planned for when I made it. That's why this time a locked-down detailed plan would have been impossible, although I agree that perhaps I could have planned some elements in more detail ;-) Still I've probably planned and documented more than a lot of "bedroom coders" (as I used to be).
