Sounds like a great game idea!

Be sure to have a "creeping evil" event to account for once-noble companies (like EA) becoming horribly corrupted by greed over innovation. <g>

I'm off to put all my game development money in my big silver safe with the wheel thingy on the front of it in my bookshelf.

Bonus: "wheel thingies" can serve as time-period-accurate copy protection.
