WAIT A MINUTE. "Naughty Alien" is claiming a stable 72 FPS - which is what I had at first.
I found that toggling the 'vysync' option inside the engine test made no difference - I had to do it via the hardware driver software.
Some people are being held to their default refresh rate. Deactivate it via your Catalyst Control Centre or nVidia Control Panel settings - you at least then get to see the potential speed.
Right, I'm off to try the second demo thing now.

Mmm, I find the 'vsync toggle' is working now - could be that I didn't have my hardware setting set right previously.
