I started late with an Atari ST1040. It had 1 Megabyte Ram, an 8 MHz (that's Megahertz, for the younger :) ) CPU, no harddrive and only a 3.5" floppy drive. Omicron Basic and GFA basic were pretty good. GWBasic and QBasic on the PC was a huge step back.
