I got a Vista "upgrade" for my laptop (Athlon X2, 1GB ram) from HP, along with a DVD of drivers. They called it an upgrade but it was actually a fresh installation, which was nice. Anyway installed it, installed the HP drivers (that HP sent me) and it lasted 4 days before I put XP back on it. As well as the slow file copying (and remember this was a fresh install with manufacturer supplied drivers and very little other software installed yet) it just kept hanging doing simple things like copying or renaming files. Well, when I say hanging, the lovely file copying animations were still running and the mouse was still moving but that was it. As I say, before I even got all my software back on it I'd got sick of the constant reboots and went back to XP.
I might try again after SP1 - maybe the stability and drivers will have improved by then.
