True. Unfortunately, "John Hoffman" is a somewhat common name, so tracking this person down would be difficult. And for all I know it could be a fake name.
I'd think that since he gave 'permission' to a distributor to spread the game, that they would have a means of contacting him? If nothing else, the distributor didn't do their homework and you could take them to (small claims?) court for unauthorized distribution of your intellectual property.
