Where are you going to find ppl who will never meet their goal, who will never return to their homeland/familly, and who are -formost- capable of making that journey in the first place (you don't want n00bs on board eh).
I might be a noob to actual space travel.. But the astronauts I know, and the people like my dad who work with them, all want to do this kind of thing. They all want to build bases on the moon, go into deep space... We are talking about people willing to spend a full year in a tiny little room.
These are the explorer of the old... Was it any different for the Vikings, when the set out for new land? Columbus? Hell.. The people following the herds over the land bridge into the americas?

I'd go. No question. I might be totally bored for the rest of my life... I might have a meaningless relationship with someone purely to have children. I might even regret it. But you couldn't stop me from going if I had the chance.
