Yes but people looking for venture capital are often just looking to steal the money and go "bankrupt".
I don't know how it works in the US, but in Denmark you don't (normally) get venture capital without losing a portion of the control of your company (either as stock options, positions on the board of directors or both). Most venture capitalists aren't stupid (anymore). Also if you do go bankrupt you lose any and all ownership of your idea, and they will find someone else who can capitalize on it.
