I've seen mac's freeze up quite a few time. OSX is MUCH better than previous OS's which were abysmal, made windows look good.
Confirmed. I worked in the graphics department of a print & copy shop. OS9 would lock up about half as often as Win 98 when running Quark Xpress or Photoshop or some other real-world app. But it took twice as long to reboot. OSX and XP were both better, and similar in reduced reboots.
Thus:
In a production environment, with similarly-advanced machines and similarly-advanced software and personnel, there was functionally little difference between PC and Mac. That's the result of four designers working over 16 man-years with Win 98, OS9, Win XP, and OS X. It's really, essentially, all the same stuff. Elitists from both sides can sit on it <g>.
Now, you look into some specialized production areas (like indie game creation) and Windows wins hands-down due to market size. That's something to learn and live by, and I did (a long time ago, with something pre-dating Windows, before Windows or Mac). But I also own a Mac, and for general things (though not so much for games and programming), Macs are just fine. No problem... but as for market share, Windows rules.
