yeah, i got it working last night on feisty (ubuntu 7.x). Im well impressed! you can as you say start it and stop it as you want to and it seems to cleanly remove it and return to the default Xwindows settings.
I think vista gui has just been outdated big time.
The reason im saying this is it runs very smoothly on my Celeron pc with old Geforce mx440 and 256Mb ram, and STILL the apps are smooth :}

got my hands on one for £30 once because they didn't know it was Touchscreen, and labeled it generic
