"Anyway, even in your specific case there would be at least two better way to chose which mage should do which attack. Depending on the overall strategy for defeating your opponent, maybe one mage has more powerful fire spells, or maybe one has more mana. There are literally hundreds of factors that could be a defining tie breaker, all of which are more suitable than random."

Come on.. I was talking about the limited situation where they AREN'T. First move, Identicle mages!

"Erm hello? You said that the AI assumes that it will always hit and always do max damage. Doesn't seem very random to me. The greatest flaw of this assumption of course is that the AI will thus never be able to actually kill a player, except by pure chance."

I wasn't talking about the AI in that. But. The AI assumes that their attacks will hit and that they will do the higher end of their damage to determine what the best action will be... Which is exactly what players do. The exception being spells with a low hit chance. It might mean instant death, but it only hits once in a blue moon. In this case, the player weighs that more lightly. In mine, the AI will only not pick that spell when it doesn't have the MP or it is in normal mode.

"So not so much different from the design really. "

Fine.. Whatever. I wasn't copy and pasting the entire 50+ page design document.

Believe what you want.
