Im just interested to know how/if people are using ODE for player movement.

Take for example you were moving the Zombie. You would have to place a Sphere at his feet which isnt a problem, but how do you get the rest of his body to interact with the physics engine ? You cant create a stretched box as obviously it cant roll. (well it can but it topples over)

Ive tried attaching a rectangle to the sphere using a joint then applying forces to keep it upright. THis is proving nigh on impossible.

Viper (god bless him) sent me this link and suggestion :-

You can attach it to the sphere with a ball joint, but you would need to apply a small constant upwards force to keep it upright. Or, you could use a different joint (hinge/amotor) and use the joint motors to keep it upright. The car demos use joint motors to provide force and torque to the wheels, so use those for reference.

Have a read of the following link too, it does a similar thing but with spring dampening and rays...

The other course Im thinking of using (which seems overkill) is to create a car base that a box geom will sit on, this will act as a trolley that can be pushed and pulled into position.......
