Don't worry RocketGnome. It is just a first draft. I will cite my sources and I'm considering heavily talking about my background as well. No worries.

The main reason I haven't done it myself, is because I'm not a very good coder.. I'm a fine conceptualist. I'm a visionary. I'd make a really good tester too.

What I don't make is a good coder. And I don't make a very 'aesthetic' artist. I can however do really nice pixel art.

Since most indie designers are very solo in their game-making, I don't find a lot of partners. I can say that I have never, in over 100 projects, quit. I can't say any of them have been completed. The ones I started myself, which were few, the other team members crapped out on. And the same is true of the ones I didn't start.

The only one that seems like it might get done is Apocalypse Online.. but I can't see it be successful as planned. Nor did I have much more to do with it than some level design via height-maps and some music that might not end up being used... cause Nils has his heart set on getting the band "Apocalyptica" to do music or let him use what they already have.

I don't quit. I'm a very competent level designer, and I am able to visualize how gameplay will work in my head.. I'm a savant like that. I don't have a clue how to prove that last bit. I can just 'see' how the completed game will look and work. I can feel the controls in my hands and see the gameplay...

It is absolutely mind-melting that no one will even give me the chance to just sit down with them as they are thinking up their game idea. By that, I mean someone capable of getting a game finished.

My ideas aren't all grand. If you read the Novella Chronicles design document you'd see. They are doable. I actually lean conservative on real projects.

It is frustrating that you have to be able to finish a game all on your own to get any kind of respect. It is a critical detriment. It is a lot like wanting your new CEO to be able to lift 70 lb boxes because that is what the people on the floor have to be able to do. Being able to code has nothing to do with being able to see the flaws in a design, or being a good visionary... Hell.. Look at Carmack. Then look at Miyamoto.
