I don't comment my own code, because nobody else will ever touch it. I also strip out comments when I'm working with other peoples code, because invariably the comments are useless, out of date, unclear and just reading the code - if its well written - will give you a better understanding more quickly, if you've got the domain knowledge. If it's not written well, then you're screwed either way.
