The guy in GAME tried to assure me that the PS3 price tag of £425 (no games) is the same price the PS2 was selling for when it first came out. :/

TBH, I can't remember the PS2 price when it was first released, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't that high.

The UK launch price for PS2 was £300, plus £30 for a memory card. Not as much as the PS3.
