I'm quite keen on vista, it has run great on my system, which is quite old in the scheme of things. Socket 754 A64 3000+ AGP 6600GT.
It seems to me that the determining factor for running vista well is your system ram, even a basic shader 3 card handles the GUI well, and the vista OS seems a lot snappier than XP on my machine. I don't really have enough ram to run the more demanding games but for apps Vista seems a nice improvement.
