and more recently there's been the sound of a "sizzle" which I assume to be the bearings in the DVD drive spinning up.
Just hope it's not the sound of the capacitors on the mobo frying - that's what my dying PSU did to me. The caps eventually popped, killing the mobo and HD, and dripped moulten gunk all over my GFX card. :/
