Its about time you upgraded man - you have had that old beast for at least 3 weeks now, its no wonder it wont work on it! ;)
Seriously though... have you tried getting new drivers from the manufactutrer of the graphics card website?
Did you have anything else running at the same time? what res were you in, and how much RAM is on your 800XL?
