No experience with Fedora, but I stuck a Ubuntu CD in my machine and installed to a second drive. It worked fine, didn't corrupt my Windows drive and even installed a set of boot options for dual boot. Ubuntu also seems to be the supported flavour of Linux if you plan to run Max on it.
