What is your opinion on Windows/Mac/Linux?

1. Msoft: yes, they are big, but they are big for a reason. I recently posed a licening query to them and to their credit they replied within 24 hours.

VISTA: I’ll wait for the train wreck to be picked apart then upgrade once it’s stable (only when XP is inevitably phased out....) and I’ve shelled out for even more powerful hardware. MSoft might not alienate their userbase so much if they at least attempted to provide OS software which would work well on an 'average' user's system, instead of hardware that people will more than likely have to upgrade to.

2. Mac: Never had the opportunity to play.

3. Linux: Came close to going down the same road as Floyd at home…. (i.e. attempting a dual boot affair on a creaky old computer that’s on it’s last legs) Gave up (temporarily) due to time constraints and a fear of transforming into a nerdy power user. My experience (in a work environment) of REDHAT’s support is that they may have some way to go before they can attain the level of support that Microsoft can afford. If they provided effective support, this would help increase the Linux user base. I think that Linux will increase it's market share due to the fact it's hardware requirements do not seem to gallop along at the same pace as running a MSoft OS.

I still plan to change to Linux... but not on my 'main' computer for the time being. I am interested in seeing how BMax performs on Linux, by all accounts it does quite well....
