not everyone is a zealot when it comes to OS'es or anything else tech related for that manner.
No. But you don't have to be a zealot to be religious. You can usualy tell who they are tho', because they tend to think the quality of an OS is directly proportional with the number of mice buttons the computer it runs on is shipped with, the amount of shovelware you get with it, or some other arbitaray metric otherwise unrelated to the Operating System. Anyhow, I still don't see the logic of obscuring an argument with what effectively amounts to 'taunts' aimed at the opposing side.
Since you can't win them over anywaqy, you might aswell insult their inteligence. Even if good drivers exist you may have to do some work to find them.
If you're running a stable Debian then hardware that's about a year old or so, shouldn't be much of a problem. If you have to have cutting edge technology, you'll need to go for an unstable version. By far the biggest issue is sound. If you have an on-baord Intel chip, or a soundblaster card, don't worry much about it. If you don't Linux might not be the OS you want to experiment with, unless you enjoy getting technology to work.
