Why do people keep insisting that Linux lacks standards? And standards for what? Linux is a fully POSIX compliant OS (just like Windows). expect unlike Windows, most (if not all) of the applications available comply to one or more open standards, as opposed to closed propriety ones.
That's why the first time you meet someone IRL you always go: "You're not at all like I imagined". What not a retard? Imagine that.
One of the things they need to do, is to make a standard compatability layer around the OS fir the GUIs to talk to.
You mean like X11? That way it wouldn't matter if you were running KDE or Gnome or Ice or whatever..
It doesn't. What matters is whether you have QT4 or GTK+ installed or not. Most people just install both and use whatever window manager suits them. I like IceWM because it's rediculously lightweight. If you want to make valid points and attempt to sway the opinions of those who currently disagree with you
Trying to sway the opinions of the religiously inclined (never mind trying to do so on the Internet) is a pointless exercise. Nobody is ever going to take someone who calls themselves FlameDuck, SculptureOfSoul or Uber-nerd seriously. It's the Internet, and the average person is a moron (present company excluded), just look at myspace or youtube. That's why the first time you meet someone IRL you always go: "You're not at all like I imagined".
