No, I'm not about to get handy with a mallet and a screwdriver when I don't know what I'm doing! But I've booked it in for a service and talking to my friend who's just got the same macbook, it sounds like my dvd drive might be dodgy as it's always been quite noisy. Not grinding, but loud whirring on startup and on inserting a disc. So hopefully Apple will just replace the drive and it'll be fine. I'm still umming and ahhing about going back to PC though...
