I see no real point in using Windows now - hence the reason I went for 3 Macs :
No need for AV programs.
Desktop loads quickly.
No need for defragging.
Games are pretty plentiful, but if you need Windows there is always Bootcamp.
In addition, its very easy to use and more streamlined than Windows.
Linux, I found to be highly unreliable and a real pain to use - having tried two different ones, I couldn't get any to compile BlitzMax; most didn't like the hardware and some wouldn't shutdown properly. Graphics drivers were also an immense problem and updates weren't always found or everything was being reported as being too old. And there are printer troubles...
Crashes would take out the whole machine.
If Linux is to be the future (and I dont see how), it needs to be more streamlined, simplified and less emphasise on using the command line to do anything.
When I tried the beta of Vista, it was slow, and due to security settings, programs like Pervasive wouldn't run without fiddling with said settings. I can see the support queries I'll be getting about that...
