Josh,

I had a dreadful time last night with my PC, system restore really had me worried for about an hour.

I finally managed to get the PC to boot to Safe mode with networking - everything else failed time and time again, after my initial system restore.

Anyway its stable again now, but I still have to do that jiggery pokery with the ATI drivers, I may be around tonight to sort and test that.
