What bothers me about Match-3's is that they're just so overdone. I totally understand wanting to make a game that appeals to the casual market - I tend to play casual or casual'ish games when I actually take time away from my hobbies to play games. The thing is, there are so many possible game mechanics that would appeal to the casual market - and yet all we see are the few most popular paradigms re-hashed time and time again.
The big money-makers in the casual market are the ones who introduce a totally new mechanic in a nice, polished product (and the quickest parasites, unfortunately.) I'd like to see more casual games with unique game mechanics; of course that won't happen because typically the guys making the next Diner-Dash or Match-3 game are looking for a relatively low-risk opportunity to make some money.
