Dark Half,
You've actually hit upon one of the more disturbing things I find in the DB community: the (seeming) lack of projects. I look in the gallery here, and am routinely stunned, amazed, depressed, inspired and awed.
I see the screenshots for "Legends of Idhuriel", and am inspired because a single person did that. I see "Granada Racer" and get excited because I want to develop a game in that direction.
There is a developer community here that works on projects, and some even get them finished!
But over on the TGC forums, there is no gallery. What gallery there is, has graphical quailty that was left behind with Quake 1. The forums are full of exciting new projects, with screen shots that look like something done in MS Paint. Rarely, you find a project that actually looks good. Sometimes, you see support for that project. I found a racer that looked very impressive... and the comments in the thread are less than supportive. Yet, another thread announcing a new terrain engine (with the screenshot showing essentially a textured triangle with default lighting) is met with raptureous applause.
The language is capable enough now, with most of the bugs sorted out. The developer community doesn't feel as good as the community here. Having said that, there are those who are working on good stuff and are actively helping out. But the overall "feel" is that there are mostly 13yo's blowing smoke.
> *Giggle* Funniest thing I've heard all day...
Really? show me something good that came from DB? in fact, show me something good that uses all those features they are hyping?
