As always the formats will live and die based on who supports them, not who buys them. This forum is a very unrepresentative sample as we've seem time after time because it's full of students and struggling developers. Consumers in general have too much money and a sheep-like mentality, and will buy whatever plays the movies they want to watch.
I have no clue who's supporting what, and no interest since I rarely watch movies, but that will ultimate determine the way it pans out, unless of course the oft-discussed-but-never-agreed dual format discs become the norm, in which case HD-DVD will win easily.
