Blitz or DarkBasic, your view?

Post of the busg in DBPro, have, contrary to previous posts, have been fixed. In addition, as long as you use the latest updates, its all pretty stable.

There are many alternative IDE's if you dont like the standard one - some are pretty good.

You do need to make sure your computer is up-to-date with everything. Everything is the important part. I've had no problems with people running my programs, once they made sure that they had the very latest version of their graphics drivers and DirectX - why they never had them to start with, I will never know.

The only real downside is the resulting executables are inefficient, resulting in slower (than should be) code.

In addition, the testing quality is variable. I had thought that they would always release beta versions of updates after I had a moan, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. So a fix that's in one update could be back to being bugged in another update.

If you need a routine that isn't available, and you cant afford a plug-in, there is usually a free version around - databases, speech, ZLib, LUA etc etc

Yes, I must admit I prefer DBPro over BlitzMax (the syntax for the latter is just wierd, especially with memory access) - unfortunately DBPro isn't availiable for the Mac...
