Went through a phase of just playing console games until I bought a PC to help with my work. Came across the Blitz Basic demo on PC Format and the rest is history. Had that not been on the CD, then may have tried C++ at some point, but given up with not having the time to put anything together worthwhile. Possibly would have come across Dark Basic or PureBasic, but I wasn't actively seeking to get back into programming on any largish scale. So basically, there's a good chance my programming days would have ended back in the early 90's with my Atari ST.
