if you are on ubuntu from commandline / terminal you will need to install some / all of the following packages by typing

sudo apt-get install libgl-dev
sudo apt-get install libglu-dev
sudo apt-get install libxxf86vm-dev
sudo apt-get install libx11-dev
sudo apt-get install g++


and maybe

sudo apt-get install nvidia-dev

if you are using nvidia hardware.
