Vista obviously needs a bit of time to unlock all it's hidden spyware files in order for it to calculate the total for you.

Either that or it only updates it's tally on every checked folder, not every checked file - and one particular folder had tonnes of very small files (inf dir, mayhaps?). But let's not be sane here, shall we?!?
