Until you can walk into Bestbuy/walmart/target/whatever, grab a random computer game from a shelve, go home and shove it in your CD-drive and have it instantly *work*, windows isn't going anywhere.
Like it or not, windows is here to stay.
Any 'perfect emulation' isn't a magic bullet either -- OS/2 did perfect Win16 emulation. IT was great, except the direct6 result was that developers didn't bother to write a native OS/2 version since writing for windows meant you could write just one version and run it on both platforms. Then microsoft switched to the new Win32 API, and OS/2 was left in the dirt since it couldn't run any of those programs. Oops.
