When you are older and you want to learn programming, the brain part that has specialized in maths could be used for programming, too. I think, in general, if you can't learn it, you will soon lose interest. Since you are saying you're ok in Blitz, I think you will have not too much trouble changing to C++. And if you have trouble, use Visual Basic instead.
