the kind that isn't a remake
Exactly what I think, too.

I think it is hypocritical for people to say that games these days aren't as good as games of 10 years ago, and that today's games are all just sequels and cookie-cutter FPSs, then go on to remake those 10 year old games because they're so great... in order to prove their point or something.

Especially hypocritical is when they even go on to copy over the original graphics because it's just not the same without it. (Because, as they often say, graphics doesn't make the game).

And yes, I pulled that demographic of people who remake old games out of nowhere in order to convey these undoubtedly completely annoying statements.

Of course, respect the classics!
Retro remakes and the like are great fun, and I love playing ports of old games on my DS.
Digger, Doom and Scumm adventure games feel completely fresh on there!

And, to be fair, if I had a lot of good resources available I would probably be contemplating a remake / unnoficial sequel to Tachyon: The Fringe, which was sadly completely forgotten regardless of being arguably one of the best action games ever, and way ahead of its time.
That sort of intent is no different than wanting to remake Space Invaders.
