Well, I split a 512x512 object into individual 32x32 tiles, and then generated a random map 1000x1000 tiles long. Video Memory Watcher is reporting that I'm only using just over 2 megs of VRAM, which sounds exactly about right since 512x512x4bpp = 1,048,576. I assume the rest is just overhead or reserved by BMax?
That number quadruples to over 8 megs of VRAm when I'm in full screen mode though. Any idea why that is?
I should mention that I'm using the OpenGL drivers. When I switch to DirectX the vram usage is nearly cut in half, but the framerate drops a bit too. My gfx card is a GeForce 6600 Gt.
I'll admit, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to hardware and hardware interaction :(.
