And what your suggesting is just like saying to a watercolor artist, "Oh just switch to airbrush and stop complaining already."
No. I'm saying you made the choice to lock yourself into a specific tool. Now that you feel this tool is obsolete, you want other people to compensate you for you poor judgement.

I have more money than I want to think about invested in my game, and more hours than my social life would like to admit, I can't just give it up. I have an obligation to finish it, to myself, my publisher, and to those looking forward to playing the game.
Well that's all fine. It just doesn't seem fair to me, to commit BRL to something you're obligated to. I don't think it's fair to ask them to pull you out of this situation you've no one to blame for than yourself.

Hell, I can't even have more than 6 units with bones on the screen at one time without slowdown.
Wait. Let me get this straight. You knew from the get go that the engine wasn't suitable for what you wanted it to do, yet still you chose to invest large amounts of money and time in it? And this is somehow all BRL fault for making BlitzMAX?

Red started a good thread, I think this stuff NEEDS to be discussed.
No it doesn't. Because it's totally pointless. Old men sitting around talking about things BRL should have done differently is going to make no difference at all. Now if you really wanted to remedy the situation, and possibly salvage some of all that time and money which you have allegedly invested in your game, why not just grab BlitzMAX and use Simon's MiniB3D stuff? At least then you wouldn't have to start all over again. Sound like a plan?

This is not drama, this is identifying a problem, and discussing ways to fix it.
Oh really? Perhaps you would kindly direct me to a post that identifies a problem, and/or offers a solution. Theres over 100 to chose from, shouldn't be too hard.

We are not a fascist regime bent social hierarchies according to skin color,
Who said you had to be all that to be a hatemonger? Do you want me to quote all the times in this thread that the sanity of BRL has been questioned, simply because they had a different opinion than that of someone who doesn't have the 411 on anything that goes on at BRL? With the exception of Mark Sibly, no one knows matter of factly which business decisions BRL made that where sound ones, and which where not so sound ones. Its not a discussion, it's rabid opinionated speculation.

You want to tell BRL they screwed up? Leave. Permanently. You want to play with their ball, in their house, you should accept that they make the rules, and they decide what game to play, and when to play it, regardless of how stupid you think that is.

so please man cool it with the insults.
Did I strike a nerve? Tell you what, you stop throwing illinformed rubbish about, like "No one wants 2D stuff anymore", and I'll stop calling you a childish whineing hatemonger. Deal?

I think it's hillarious (in a sad, ironic, and slightly disturbing way) that people think it's just fine and dandy for Microsoft, whom most assuredly could afford to keep archaic products on artificial life-support, to drop support after 5 years, while much smaller companies like BRL for whom artificial life-support for archaic products, might not be a fiscally sound solution, are held to much higher standards. Time to move on indeed, cretins.
