Not meaning to be offensive to people, but, how many normal, everyday users, who aren't clued up to a certain extent, will not buy Vista? Anyone buying a new computer, ie. lots of people, will probably have vista preinstalled.
That's true. But how many people are buying new computers? Not that many, why? Cause the market is saturated. Which is probably what trigger the 'evolve or die' strategy, trying to recycle the market. The question is will it work as Microsoft intended, or will they instead open up a huge market to other companies looking to capitalize on now obsolete hardware?Because you're right you know. Normal everyday users, who aren't clued up, are not going to know that they shouldn't buy a computer until after Vista is out, and they're not going to know they're going to need a powerful graphics card to get the most of it. So they're going to buy whatever PC they can afford off the Dell website, and they're not going to buy a new one 6 months from now (or whenever Windows Vista Forever is comming out). That's the difficulty in successfully launching a discontinuous high-tech product, a lesson Microsoft is about to learn the hard way.
