I'll probably be upgrading for gaming. My two year old gaming PC (not top of the line even when I built it) is still well in to the "premium" category so it shouldn't be a problem for it. The whole gaming side of the OS has been completely re-worked, from the driver model to "installationless gaming" and I'm looking forward to it.
I don't know if DX10 is being deliberately held back from XP to encourage people to upgrade or if it has something to do with the driver overhaul.
