Yes. For chess I don't think it does.
Sure it does, particularly the AI.Anyway, the point of using an object oriented approach doesn't really hit you until you have to go back and support a program you haven't even thought about for 2 years. At that point in time, you will thank whatever god you subscribe to, that you used an OO design.
