Was wondering how the heck Microsoft expects people to buy such damned expensive television sets to play their latest console system the way it was meant to be played?
Well, considering that analog broadcast TV is about to be yanked off the air across north america in the not-too-distant future, they're probably counting on a good percentage of people switching to HDTV at that point.
Anyway, pretty much the entire entertainment industry is trying to persuade people to switch to all-digital systems -- not because it looks better, but simply because it also comes with draconian DRM schemes that makes it much easier for the movie studios and the likes to protect their content... Including those pesky VCR's people use to tape movies from TV -- they can't wait to kill all that stuff off.
