Wow, so much mis-information.
- Vista will have a gaming mode which turns off a lot of features to release memory and processes to the game.
- Vista will have a scalled down UI so that embedded video can use the system without having DX9/10 compatible card
It is funny, every since Windows 98, I have read how terrible the next version of windows will be. The only valid concern was Me and it died quickly because those concerns were valid. Vista will not die as Me because it is a major rewrite of OS and will be their flagship, Me was a stepchild and just a transition version until XP came out.
Oh, and of course this is the best time for Linux/Mac users to come out and bark at it. It is sad to see how people react to some information when the software is about 10 months away and all we are reading are specs. Plus, the point of Aero (HOme Premier and above editions) was to make your UI eye candy so that is why it uses your PC like a gaming machine. If you do not want this, do not purchae that edition of the Vista and use it with scaled down UI that will not utilize the sytem 3D graphics - very simple choice.
