BlitzMax v/s Torque

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/BlitzMax v/s Torque

I disagree. Additionally, I don't see any Blitz3D games reaching the heights of Torque games. Blitz3D is a gateway tool for people just getting into game development or for some prototyping. You complain about a load of Torque features above ... none of which are present in Blitz3D at all. That's like complaining about another car's wheels and tires when your car doesn't even have wheels and tires.

If Blitz3D was really capable of delivering a top notch game it would have been done by now. The truth is that you can make some nice games of meager complexitiy before it falls apart because of it's structure. It does what it was designed to do extremely well. It was never designed to compete on the 'AAA' level, even of 2000. On the other hand Torque was and it's still making games that sell within the 'AAA' market space. Bill Gates spoke about Marble Blast Ultra in his speech at E3 ... that's about as far reaching as you can hope for in the current game industry.

Both tools have their reasons for being. I still feel that this comparison is a bit silly. Just pick one and make a game with it.
