Vista - system requirements unveiled

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Vista - system requirements unveiled

Ross, there is no 2D version of Vista, it runs under dx9 full 3D mode. The thing that suprised me was that you need shader 2.0 support on your gfx card.

I was at a MSDN conference a few months back when they were talking about vista. Frankly, it's like most of the other windows developments, you need to up your system for it to run the same stuff and maintain performance.

I don't see this as a bad thing though. XP is really just a wrapper of 2000 but it makes it look nicer and friendlier to the average user, this isn't a bad thing.

Likewise Vista has nicked a couple of good ideas from Linux and made the whole thing prettier. The average user who shops at PC world has an over powered machine anyway as all they do is check their email and a bit of image editing. Vista will still run smooth and look really nice.

Anyway... I'm not going to buy it! I'm still on 2000 and quite happy!
