My current game (Viking invasion of Britain/Ireland/France) is 1,545 lines spread across seven files. It'll probably end up with about 2,500 when done. As for tool used to count lines, I just looked at the bottom-right of the Max IDE after doing a Ctrl+End. :) EDIT: like everyone else, apparently... :)
