You know... I don't think I will ever get this style of music (trance)... Will someone try to clue me in to what is appealing about it?
I try to be open and accept music in any way I can... but so far trance has illuded my ability to understand the worth of the tracks.
It seems that anyone can write it with no understand of theory, and still managed to be popular. It also seems the more advanced it is the lower it is worth.
I desperately want to understand what makes good trance and what makes bad trance and what it actually boils down to.
I've heard very technical explanations of it, but so far I've noticed a lot of impure exceptions to the rules and few examples of the style that are considered good that follow the logic.
It almost seems that the more simple and non-complex and standard and basic the piece is, the better it is.
Will someone PLEASE tell me what I am listening for? And what makes it good and or have value.
