I've found it basically impossible to completely and reliably do away with tearing on all setups, even when using 'vwait:flip false'. It seems that other apps can just happen to take a timeslice 'between' the vwait and flip, so when control is returned to your app to execure the flip, the scan is already part-way down the screen, causing tearing. That seems to be what's happening, anyway.
